URGENT NOTIFICATION – CHANGES EFFECTIVE MONDAY, JULY 17, 2023 - TERMINAL’S GATE INSPECTION PROCESS EMPTY DIRTY CONTAINERS AND INSPECTION TRUCKLINES “OWN” CHASSIS

Based on recent meetings jointly with both Terminal’s New Orleans Terminal, LLC and Ports America (Nola), and the USMX-ILA regarding the Master Contract’s language set forth the ILA shall retain it’s jurisdiction the right to Inspect all Containers and Chassis entering Marine Terminals. EFFECTIVE, MONDAY July 17, 2023 all Container and Chassis, including trucklines “OWN” chassis will be subject to inspection inbound and outbound at PORTS AMERICA (NOLA).    

 The following change of inspection and process effective Monday is detailed below for your guidance.  Please see that this communication is put out to all within your Truckline organization, as well as, all your Drivers so they are not caught off guard starting on Monday 7/17.  

 All empty containers inspected and found “dirty” will be accepted and driver instructed to proceed to LINE REPAIR for cleaning or assigned to Damage yard location. Those containers getting cleaned at Line Repair will need to proceed to Kiosk after being cleared by Line Repair to obtain new EIR ticket for drop off location.

 All Truck Line “Owned” chassis will be inspected equally. All drivers regardless if out move only and arrive with OWN chassis must also STOP at the Inbound Inspection canopy for inspection prior to proceeding into the Yard for pick up.   Any trucker OWN chassis found in fault coming in with Container will be allowed to drop inbound move but Out move will be Cancelled.  Any trucker arriving with OWN chassis only for pick up move if OWN chassis found in fault the inspector will advise clerk to cancel pick up move. Drivers will need to Exit Terminal with their OWN chassis.

All visitors to the New Orleans Terminal must have an appointment to enter the terminal grounds.  You can only gain direct access to the terminal with a valid TWIC security card. Confirmed visitors will be escorted to the N.O.T. office building located in the Gate House.
